Keeping Seattle S.A.F.E.
S.A.F.E. (Standing Against Foreclosure and Eviction) is a community justice organization that educates, organizes and amplifies the voices of underprivileged communities. Community Justice is composed of three pillars; economic justice, social justice, and environmental justice. We believe inequality, lack of opportunity, and lack of inclusivity are the primary drivers of communal disparity. We believe that the best way to stop displacement is the empowerment of community through culture, community building, and non-violent direct action. S.A.F.E.’s mission is to disrupt the cycle of displacement, gentrification, unjust eviction, and foreclosure of vulnerable people through empowering, organizing, and amplifying the voices of those most affected by displacement, and its root causes. S.A.F.E. stands in solidarity with working class people of color, our LGBT+ comrades, veterans of color, unhoused people and immigrants. Xenophobia, racism, classism, misogyny, and transphobia have no place in the organization.
S.A.F.E. is non-partisan, non-religious, and non-sectarian. We do not endorse any candidate, religion, or partisan agendas. We participate in the community justice struggle with organizations allied with our core values of education, self-determination, and participation. We support policies, programs, and other organizations that are committed to the strengthening and betterment of underrepresented populations and communities. We support livable wages, gender equity, the decriminalization of homelessness, the philosophy of harm reduction, and access to clean air, and water. We view housing as a human right, not a commodity. We advocate for community control, not corporate control. We assert our right to exist in communities free of corporate pollution and environmental waste.
S.A.F.E. cannot fight FOR people, only WITH people. People are always encouraged to seek support from us. Our meetings are meant to be intersectional spaces dedicated to providing education, fellowship, and support.
Join us. Lets fight gentrification and corporate colonization together!
